lady überbabe in intro minor
Chief Executive and überbabe creator Lisa Voldeng [aka lady überbabe], lives to give good vision, good market and good creative, 21st century socially responsible capitalist-style. She makes sugarlab shake its magic-maker.
Lisa is an internationally-recognized strategist and entrepreneur. She cut her teeth in the telecommunications industry in the early 90s, moving from the micro-intricacies of development to the macro-intricacies of shifting markets and ultimately focusing on industry analysis and strategy. Based in Silicon Valley, she worked with an array of Fortune 500 firms at the intersect of media, entertainment and technology; advising executives how to adapt their assets to profit in emerging markets. In 1998 she founded digital mogul, a highly-regarded research consultancy.
Voldeng developed a highly-regarded profile for forecasting [and debunking] trends including the transition to a service-based economy, the decline of the mass demographic, the implosion of 1st generation ITV and broadband services, the arise of peer-to-peer technologies and the advent of user-generated media.
She called the AOL Time Warner deal a twitching carcass the day it was announced, and said the Blockbuster-Enron deal was just "pretty press fodder designed to spike the stock price and little else." Ah, the covered wagon days.
Profoundly impacted by the aftermath of September 11, Voldeng returned to Vancouver in late 2001 and founded sugarlab on progressive home soil. Since then she's been active both at home and internationally, fighting the residual starlight forces of fear and paranoia with positivity, transparency and ultra-love. In 2005 she launched another venture, [ultra-future], a global future of entertainment expo and association, in partnership with Pico Worldwide. Pico is the official contractor for the Torino Olympics and Paralympics, and ITU's Asia World Telecom, held in Hong Kong in December, 2006.
She's been profiled in publications as diverse as Electronic Media, The Industry Standard, USA Today, The Globe and Mail, The National Post and Xtra West. She was recently named one of the top 10 "next generation media thinkers" by Japan's Nikkei Electronics, and was voted one of the the "Top 25 Women in Technology" by ZDnet and one of the "Women to Know in New Media" by the Online Journalism Review.
Voldeng is a founding member of the World Technology Network and a judging member of the Entertainment Committee. She's advised NASA on its strategic plans, her favorite part of which was getting her souvenir Apollo coin. She was an invited guest at Alvin Toffler's Future Shock anniversary forum, where business, government and military leaders debated emerging developments. Locally, she co-chairs the Vancouver GLBA and sits on the board for the Vancouver Community Net; a nonprofit whose mandate is to deliver affordable internet access to low-income families. Finally, she is a national advisor to Dr. Hedy Fry, the longtime Canadian MP for Vancouver Center [or as it's spelled in Canada, "centre".] Word to the ultra-mother.
